The Island
Our Village
Nestled in the southeastern part of Tinos, Agia Varvara is a quaint village situated in the hilly landscape beneath Mt. Oros’ peak with a remarkable view to the island of Myconos. Notable landmarks include the three-aisled basilica of Agia Varvara, adorned with icons featuring a Russian-style iconostasis. The church’s centerpiece, the icon of Saint Barbara, was crafted between 1790-1810. Additionally, the westward monastery of Agia Triada Gyrla, refurbished in the 18th century, boasts a striking wood-carved iconostasis and accompanying icons.
